Other Fenders

Fender's catalog extends well beyond the Telecaster and Stratocaster. The models documented here are the ones that didn't become permanent fixtures of the mainstream — offset guitars, student models, short-scale experiments, semi-hollow ventures — instruments that have aged into collector territory precisely because they were misunderstood or underproduced at the time.

The Coronado appears here for the same reason as the Montego: Roger Rossmeisl designed it, which places it in direct lineage with the Rickenbacker 300 series and the German Roger archtops documented elsewhere on this site. The Starcaster — a semi-hollow with humbuckers introduced in 1976 — is another outlier worth noting; its headstock became the visual touchstone for BilT Guitars, also in this collection. The Bass VI, Jazzmaster, Jaguar, Mustang, Duo-Sonic, Musicmaster, Precision Bass, and Jazz Bass round out the section, each documented from the instruments collected and played firsthand.
