Rickenbacker Custom and One-off Finishes

Custom, One-Off, and Limited Edition Finishes represent some of the most unusual colors ever produced by Rickenbacker. These finishes fall outside the standard catalog and are typically created for special dealer requests, factory experiments, or small commemorative production runs. Custom and one-off finishes are often produced as factory trials or special orders, sometimes for dealers or specific events. In some cases they introduce entirely new colors; in others they combine existing finishes with unusual hardware or model configurations. Because production numbers are extremely small, these instruments tend to attract strong interest from collectors. Limited edition finishes are usually produced in small runs—often around two dozen instruments—and may be tied to a specific model, anniversary, or dealer collaboration. These releases occasionally introduce color combinations that never appear in the regular production lineup. Because of their rarity, instruments finished in these special colors often command significantly higher prices on the secondary market compared to standard production finishes. For collectors, they represent some of the most distinctive and elusive examples of Rickenbacker’s finish history.
