Rickenbacker Seafoam Green

Sea Green (SG) was Rickenbacker's Color of the Year for 2000 — the first entry in what became an annual program running through 2006, where for one calendar year any guitar in the line could be ordered in that year's special finish. Orders opened January 1st and closed December 31st, though actual production ran into 2002 as the factory worked through its batch schedule. The color itself sits in an interesting position: slightly darker and more blue-shifted than Fender Surf Green, and greener than Fender Seafoam Green — it reads differently depending on the light, and the clearcoat can amber with age, pushing it further toward green. Photographs rarely capture it accurately. As the inaugural COY finish and one of the more striking colors Rickenbacker has offered, Sea Green examples are genuinely rare and infrequently encountered in the resale market.
