Two Tone Brown is an early Rickenbacker finish from the 1950s that predates the more familiar colour palette of the Hall era. Applied to lap steels and early Combo-era Spanish guitars, it features a warm two-tone contrast that reflects the instrument design aesthetics of the early electric era — functional, understated, and very much of its time. Like Cloverfield Green and the other early colours, it disappeared from the catalogue as Rickenbacker's identity crystallised around the Fireglo, Jetglo, and Mapleglo trio in the late 1950s. Surviving examples in original condition are uncommon, and those that surface tend to be in varying states of wear given their age. The finish is less well-documented than later Rickenbacker colours, which makes accurate examples particularly valuable to researchers and collectors trying to piece together the full picture of early Rickenbacker production.
