Modern Walnut Modern Walnut finishes emphasize the natural appearance of the wood. Two primary versions have been used in recent decades: • Walnut (W) – a clear finish that showcases walnut grain, as seen on instruments like the 360W. • Walnut (WAL) – an oiled walnut finish used on models such as the 650, giving the wood a darker, more natural matte appearance. Both versions highlight the texture and depth of walnut, offering a warm alternative to traditional Rickenbacker finishes.
