The Walnut finish is one of Rickenbacker's most natural and elegant color options, showcasing the beauty of the wood itself. Known for its rich, earthy tones, the Walnut finish has been a favorite among musicians and collectors for its classic and organic appearance. Rickenbacker has offered several distinct Walnut finishes over the years, each with its unique charm and appeal.
### 'Modern' Walnut
The Natural Walnut finish emphasizes the natural beauty of the walnut wood. This finish features a clear, oiled finish that highlights the intricate grain patterns and rich brown hues of the walnut. The result is a stunning, natural look that exudes warmth and sophistication.
There's two versions of the 'modern walnut' - the Walnut(W) finish on as on the current 360W, and the Walnut(WAL) finish, which was an oiled finish, as on the 650.
### ''80s" Walnut - aka WAL or 'Walnutglo'
This Walnut(WAL) finish, also known as “Walnut Burst,” was introduced in the 1980s and offers a slightly different take on the traditional Fireglo finish. This version features a subtle gradient effect, transitioning from a deeper brown at the edges to a lighter, almost amber tone in the center. The finish is complemented by a high-gloss sheen that enhances the depth and dimension of the wood. WAL was also offered as a matte finish.
### ''Vintage" Walnut
In the 60's the Walnut finish was a transparent brown, similar to a Burgundy glow, but brown. Sometimes also called "Walnutglo". So ugly it's beautiful. :)
