Vox Japan Modern Style

Vox, in general, has somewhat changed direction, starting in and around 2011, with focus on a lower price-point for their instruments. With an initial shift to Indonesia-made instruments, the more current offerings are usually made in China, or made in China/Assembled in Japan. In general, the origin of manufature is stamped on the rear of the headstock of the instrument (or on a sticker).
Post-Virage, Vox Japan hasn't really made much... but those they have made are excellent pro-level instruments. And IMO, are usually 'priced too high' - and more often than not they're limited editions of the entry-level China-made models, often only sold in Japan. Nothing wrong with that, but I think that approach limits the appeal...
But - everything I've seen from Vox Japan is top-notch. They're worth seeking out!
Production has seen the limited edition Starstream bass and guitar, and some very nice limited edition ukulele models.
This is the VSBA-A2S Starstream Artist Series bass in RDMR (red frame, metallic red body). Pro-level Japan made bass with Gotoh hardware and Aguilar AG-4J-70 pickups and the OBP-2 twin-band active preamp.
MSRP in 2019 of $2,199 USD, and you can find them in 2025 for about $500 when you can find them... :P
Great bass...!
