This tool is designed to help you explore and analyze the market trends of various Rickenbacker guitar models across different decades. Follow this guide to get started:

Step 1: Select a Model

• Navigate to the "Select Model" dropdown** at the bottom left of the chart below.

• Choose your desired Rickenbacker guitar model from the list provided. The available models include popular options like the 360 and 4003 among others.

• Note: The tool requires a model to be selected before proceeding.

Step 2: Fetch Data

• After selecting a model, the tool will automatically fetch the latest market data for that model, during which you'll see a green progress bar indicating the loading status.

Step 3: Select a Decade

• Once the data is loaded, **the "Select Decade" dropdown** will be enabled.

• Choose a decade from the list to filter the market data by the period you're interested in. The chart will automatically update to reflect the selected decade.

Step 4: Analyze the Chart

• View the bar chart that displays the price ranges of the selected model across different conditions (e.g., Fair, Good, Excellent).

• The chart shows both the low and high price ranges, as well as the average price for each condition.

• Hover over the bars to see detailed price information for each condition.

• Use the "Select Sales Period' drop down to look at all of the sals data, data only from the last year (365 days from current date), or data from the previous year (from 365 to 730 days from the current date).

• Note: Dynamic Chart Title:The chart title will update based on the selected model and decade, giving context to the data being displayed, ie: how many transactions are displayed on the chart.

General Guidelines:

• Age and Value: The older the instrument, the more valuable it tends to be relative to the same model in a more current year.

• Left-Handed Instruments: Left-handed versions of an instrument typically have a higher value than right-handed models due to their rarity.

• Modifications and Value: Modifications can significantly lower an instrument's value. Reversible modifications usually have a minimal impact on vintage instruments. However, repairs or refinishes, even when professionally done, generally reduce the value of a vintage instrument by half and limit its potential for value growth over time.

• Exceptions: There are exceptions, particularly for extremely rare vintage instruments. For instance, an instrument where only 1-5 units exist might still command top value even if it has been repaired or refinished.

• "Brand New", but not in current period: When you're seeing data for a conidtion of "Brand New", but not in the current period (ex: 2000s Brand New) -> this is most likely 'seller error' and these items should be considered mint - ie: the seller flagged the item as "it's like brand new", which isn't the proprer condition grade per the below.

• Subjectivity in Ratings: The condition ratings are inputted by the seller, and interpretations can vary from person to person. Not everyone may evaluate conditions in the same way.

• Impact on Pricing Data: When considering pricing data, keep in mind that larger sample sizes generally increase confidence in the average pricing for items. A broader data set helps account for the variability in how different sellers rate their gear.

Mint

• Description: Completely blemish-free with no modifications. The item must be in perfect, like-new condition.

• Example: A pristine guitar with no scratches, marks, or signs of wear, paired with a flawless case.

Excellent

• Description: Used items with very minor cosmetic defects, like light scratches or pick marks that don’t affect performance.

• Example: A snare drum with slight surface scratches from regular use.

Very Good

• Description: Items with more visible cosmetic imperfections than Excellent condition but still in great shape overall. No impact on playability or function.

• Example: A bass guitar with finish dings or minor buckle rash.

Good

• Description: Fully functional items with significant cosmetic wear, such as scratches, dents, or minor cracks.

• Example: A guitar with some cracks in the binding or a pedal with visible chassis wear.

Fair

• Description: Items with functional issues that may affect performance but are still usable. Cosmetic and minor functional defects are present.

• Example: A guitar with a crack that affects tone or an amp with scratchy pots.

Retailer Condition

Brand New: Products that are unopened, new in box, and covered under the manufacturer’s original warranty, typically listed by authorized dealers.

Known Issues:

Incomplete Model Support:

• Duplicate decades: occasionally the tool will create two groupings for a single decade: ex: 1970s and 70s.  Something to fix...

AI Jitter:

• The AI tool is in its inital traning state.  While reports are generally accurate, at times the AI will wander and mix data and provide inaccurate reporting.

• This will improve with additional training of the AI model(s)

Mobile support:

• The tool works best on a desktop, using it on a phone is basically unusable...
